Its been constantly played by the BBC Radio one shows of PETE TONG; ANNIE MAC and GILLES PETERSON Up till now it was only available for a very short time as limited edition one sided white label, now available for everyone incl. superb B side that already gained its props by radio airplay through Gilles and Pete. House Single Of The Month in Mixmag, Detroit-influenced (of course) epic, with sumptuous instrumentation, a no-nonsense groove and some swooping, almost orchestral string/pad flourishes - a belter, basically, kicking around for a while as a white and now getting a proper release on Sonar Kollektiv . A big, big tune - 12 minutes between early Luomo, Audion and Carl Craig. DJ HELL (Gigolo) This outstanding House tune by Mr. Roland Apple from Munich was already the secret hit at WMC 2007. Its now # 2 at my summer charts 2007 MISS KITTIN (Nobodys Bizzness / Gigolo) I love the track! Someone gave it to me in Dresden... I play it all the time! And Hell told me it's his favourite track at the moment. Great lyrics. LAURENT GARNIER (F-Com) Superb MICHEAL MAYER (Kompakt) An apple a day keeps the doctor away! TIEFSCHWARZ (Ali) (Four Music / Souvenir-Music) I play this track since a while again and again - splendid! Fantastic record, bravo Roland! DJ T (Get Physical) This is a track, that awakens a bunch of positive associations in me, holding the balance between darkness and happyness, connecting vibes from early 90s club music and Detroit-reference s with contemporary minimal programming, while mystic voice of Araba Walton is giving this an even more timeless touch! CHARLES WEBSTER (Mantis / Miso) 'changes'....always in my set...played it every gig since i got it.....great track, love the vocal, chords etc....kind of an anthem really ! DIXON (Innervisions) "due to tracks like dark soldier house will never be dead. whenever u think its getting a little boring someone is producing a track that is freshing up the game. dope dope track." KIKI (Bpitch) i heard the track for the first time at sonar this year and it..s not often that i break up a nice discussion and run to the booth to hassle a mixing dj to find out what the hell he is playing right now... and i found a musical masterpiece with lovely strings, a strange vocal (which might not be everyone..s case, but makes the track even more special), and a groove which evolves all the way in almost carl craigish way! my number 1 at the moment! GILLES PETERSON (BBC Radio One / Brownswood) Roland Appel has been making some brilliant music in the past and he's making some radical tunes right now! AME (Innervisions) great new neo romantic house,definitely one of the Tunes of 2007 "!!!! JAZZANOVA (Sonar Kollektiv) Wonderful Appe(l)tizer of a wonderful menu cooked by a friend. FRA SOLER (Club Nitza / Barcelona) Awesome. One of the best tracks of the year! 3 CHANNELS (Crosstown Rebels) love it!!!!! OSKAR MELZER (Week-end / Fine Rec.) I love this record!!!!! ANDREW GRANT (DC10) Wow Goregous piece of music. NICCOLO PACCAGNELLA (Be As One Imprint) Possibly one of my favourite records lately. Absolutely amazing house music with SOUL for "one of those moments" on the dancefloor. People loves it! PHILIP SHERBURNE (Pitchfork / Urge / Emusic) Two words: stun. ning. GREAT great stuff, just the right amount of drama without getting melodramatic, and I love the almost English folky quality of the vox. Brilliant release LEE SMITH (idj-magazine) Now that deep house is the all the rage again, producers and labels seem more confident in ditching the glitches and re-instating lush strings, live percussion and, of course, plenty of soulful vocals. This monster from Roland Appel takes its cue from Luomos fusion of vocal house and micro-electronics, adds a dash of Carl Craigs harmonic mastery, and comes up with possibly the most weirdly beautiful record so far this year.
