Unashamedly it is a disco classic that wants to beat its path to the multicoloured lit floors of Saturday Night Fever. In the days where Yvonne Elliman and Gloria Gaynor songs were belted out on the dance floors of the Top Rank, Hi On Life transports you back to those heady times where Nile Rodgers ruled the dance floors. Goodbye was written by Michael McGregor, a songwriter, musician and producer that has written a string of Top 10 Billboard dance tracks, as well as having a number 1 single on the continent. He has written songs for television shows CSI, ER and One Tree Hill. He met vocalist Joniece in a recording studio after she had been laying down backing vocals for the Eurythmics. Joniece has a powerful voice that has been honed whilst touring with a gospel group. Michaels song writing skills are given the full treatment by Joniece and deliver a stylish disco record that has attracted some fantastic mixes. 7th Heaven have produced the Mirrorball mix that epitomises the disco era and captures the seventies style of disco guitars and keyboard stabs whilst sounding like it has had a modern makeover that gives it a vibrancy that will stack up against any current dance floor filler. Shanghai Surprise (Erasure / Annie Lennox) have produced a mix that has a relentless energy and a style all of its own. Bimbo Jones who are signed to Columbia Records and earlier this year remixed the massive track Thunder in my heart by Meck feat Leo Sayer, has also worked with Usher and Bodyrockers. They have produced a storming mix that uses a salsa beat and really compliments Jonieces voice to the max. Finally DJ Tekin who recently delivered an excellent mix on the Champion Classic Feel what U want by Kristine W, changes the tempo, uses a saucy bass and bongos beginning before flooding the track with a Hammond organ and tips a nod to Jamiroquai with a latin Jazz groove.
